Marquetand pioneers OPM magnetomyography, using optically pumped magnetometers to measure the magnetic fields generated by muscle activity, and applies clinical OPM-MEG to epilepsy and neuromuscular disease. As a physician-scientist he connects sensor and method development to clinical questions in neurology and epileptology. His MMG work opens a largely new application area for OPM sensors beyond the brain.
